In Florida, criminal charges are divided into two main categories, misdemeanor offenses and felony offenses.

The maximum possible penalties for a particular crime are listed below:

2nd Degree Misdemeanor - Sixty (60) days in jail & $500.00 fine.

1st Degree Misdemeanor - Twelve (12) months in jail & a $1,000.00 fine.

3rd Degree Felony - Five (5) years prison & a $5,000.00 fine.

2nd Degree Felony - Fifteen (15) years in prison & a $10,000.00 fine.

1st Degree Felony - Thirty (30) years in prison & a $25,000.00 fine.
